No. As a HCPC-registered physiotherapist, you can book an appointment directly without a referral from your GP. If you've recently seen another healthcare professional or have any relevant scan reports or medical letters, you're welcome to bring these along, but they are not essential.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows the area being assessed to be examined easily. For example, if you're attending with knee pain, shorts are ideal, while a vest or loose-fitting top may be helpful for shoulder or neck assessments. If you're unsure, don't worry—we'll discuss this when your appointment is booked.
An Initial Assessment & Treatment typically lasts 45–60 minutes, allowing time for a detailed assessment, discussion, treatment where appropriate and a personalised rehabilitation plan.
Follow-up Appointments usually last around 45 minutes, focusing on your progress, ongoing treatment and progression of your rehabilitation programme.
You can find out more by visiting the Initial Assessment & Treatment and Follow-up Appointment pages.
Payment is due at the end of your appointment, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
TK Physiotherapy currently accepts payment by bank transfer or cash. If paying by bank transfer, an invoice containing the payment details will be provided following your appointment.
Card payments are planned to be introduced in the future to provide additional convenience for patients.
Your first appointment is designed to provide a thorough understanding of your condition and the best course of treatment.
We'll discuss your symptoms, medical history and goals before carrying out a detailed physical assessment. Where appropriate, treatment will begin during the same appointment, and you'll receive a personalised rehabilitation plan along with advice and exercises to continue your recovery at home.
For a full breakdown of what to expect, please visit the Initial Assessment & Treatment page.

I understand that travelling to appointments may not always be possible for older adults or those with reduced mobility. Care home visits may be available depending on the individual's needs, location and the facilities available within the care home.
If you're enquiring on behalf of a family member or resident, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
At present, TK Physiotherapy is not registered with private medical insurance providers, so appointments are self-funded.
Payment is made directly by the patient at the time of treatment. If this changes in the future, the website will be updated accordingly.
No. I'll bring any equipment required for your assessment and treatment.
